*SENT FOR REVIEW by INFLUENSTER*
Acne is the most common skin problem many of us face everyday. I suffer from adult acne from time to time. I got rid of these suckers last year and my skin became flawless. But after settling here in USA, my skin acted up again and gradually it became worse. I tried drugstore acne products, i.e. face wash and toner for acne prone skin, but these work only for a couple of weeks. After that, same story!
I adjusted my diet, incorporated healthy lifestyle choices and made a skin care routine specially for acne. Mary Kay Clear Proof acne system was (and is) a big part of that routine. I am going to give all of you update on my skin condition and review on this acne system.
WHAT THE BRAND HAS TO SAY:
The Mary Kay Clear Proof Acne System was exclusively developed to target acne’s top contributing factors: Clogged pores and Bacteria. This unique system, composed of products including effective levels of salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, provides a serious solution to clear up acne.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY:
I was sent this by Influenster, but you can get it from MaryKay.com for $45.
This acne system products come in a box labeled “Mary Kay“. The box has all the product info written on top of it. I will get into details on the individual review.
The set contains:
1. Clarifying Cleansing Gel
2. Blemish Control Toner
3. Acne Treatment Gel
4. Oil-Free Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin
CLARIFYING CLEANSING GEL:
With 2% Salicylic Acid, the cleansing gel comes in a 4.5 oz plastic tube. This colorless, thick gel has a chemical-smell which I am not very fond of. But it’s a mild and effective cleanser.
BLEMISH CONTROL TONER:
The toner also contains 2% Salicylic Acid. The 5 fl oz plastic bottle will last you a long time as you will only need 3-4 drops on a cotton pad to cover your face or affected areas. It’s a colorless watery fluid with a mild chemical smell.
ACNE TREATMENT GEL:
This 1 oz tube with acne treatment gel is quite potent. The main ingredient of this product is 5% Benzoyl Peroxide, a topical disinfectant. You have to apply it on the affected area. I take a small amount on the place where I can feel an acne in emerging and after 2 days it’s gone completely!
OIL-FREE MOISTURIZER FOR ACNE-PRONE SKIN:
This is a good oil-free moisturizer for daily use. It’s non-greasy and doesn’t clog pores. It comes in a 3 fl oz tube.
HOW DO I USE THE SYSTEM:
I do not use all 4 of these products at the same time. I use the Moisturizer in the morning after I clean my face with warm water. I use the cleanser and toner at night and follow with my regular night-time moisturizer. When I feel an acne forming or there’s an overnight pimple lurking in the morning, I use the Treatment gel on that spot, which generally dries up 1-2 days.
Now that my acne-episode is in control, I use this cleanser & moisturizer every other day and toner 2-3 times per week.
1. Works effectively on acne.
2. Within $45, you are getting 4 full-sized products. So it’s a good deal.
1. If you use all 4 (or 3) products at a same time, it may cause too much dryness on your skin.
2. As the products contain alcohol derivatives, some irritation may occur.
IN A NUTSHELL:
This system worked really well on my skin. I am 97% acne-free now. Here are some pictures before using Mary Kay Clear Proof Acne System.
And here are pictures taken today to show my skin condition. I have only used the Oil-Free Moisturizer on my skin; no makeup no alteration, no filter.
