Today’s article is quite new for Sifa’s Corner. New, because today I am going to feature 2 brands Pure Anada & Tin Feather, which offers Natural cosmetics.
What is natural cosmetics?
I “googled” the term, and what I have found is interesting. The NPA (Natural Products Association) standard is based on four hallmarks:
- Natural ingredients
The ingredients of Natural cosmetics consists significant amounts (70‐95%, excluding water and salt) and are derived from plant, animal or mineral sources. These ingredients are processed only through basic physical methods or biological processes (i.e., enzymolysis of fermentation); and the product meets consumers’ reasonable expectations.
I have also found that Cosmetic products labeled with organic claims must comply with both USDA regulations for the organic claim and FDA regulations for labeling and safety requirements for cosmetics.
PURE ANADA & TIN FEATHER:
Pure Anada is a brand developed by Candace Grenier, whose “goal has been to create a natural, safer alternative to traditional, mainstream cosmetics.”
It’s a Canadian made ethical brand which offers vegan and cruelty-free products with clean ingredients free from the common allergens.
Tin Feather is another brand designed by makeup artist, Kristen Von Riesen. It offers lipsticks which are made in Morden, Manitoba using moisture-rich butters, oils and plant waxes. A truly VEGAN formula, Tin Feather lipsticks are pigmented with food-grade colorants which provide modern, creamy matte shades.
The products I am featuring today from this brand are 3 brushes, 4 eyeshadows, 1 blush, 1 mascara, 1 face moisturizer and a lip balm.
The moisturizer ($19.50) is a lightweight lotion for normal to oily skin. The main ingredients are green tea and grapeseed. It has a “different” type of floral-fruity smell. I am using the word “different” because I have not yet smelled this kind of fragrances in any of my moisturizers. You will find this smell if you even walk into a Natural or Organic store. The product sinks into the skin quickly and smoothens it without leaving any greasy feeling. I’ve used it on the dry patches on my elbows and hand and it worked great!
The lip balm ($3.00) is Lime flavored and will make you think of lemonades. It leaves the lips well moisturized and nourished. I am using it every day.
The pressed products came in little paper pouches which I organized in this magnetic compact ($6.00). Here are the 4 pressed mineral eyeshadows ($8.00 each) and the pressed mineral blush ($12.00). Eyeshadow shades are:
- BREEZE, a Demi matte silvery steel blue
- SMOKE- Matte, medium ash brown
- CAMEO- Demi matte, pale white pink shade
- ONYX- Demi matte charcoal black.
- Blush shade is DAHLIA, demi matte Pink-ish plum
The Demi-Matte formula is a balanced combination of luminous and matte mineral pigments and these offered the most pigmentation. You can use this formula dry or wet.
The mascara claims to be naturally paraben-free, gluten-free, and mercury-free. It builds volume and length to the lashes.
The brushes are made of a synthetic micro-fiber. These are vegan and cruelty-free. I just loved how soft they feel. The handles are made of sustainable bamboo wood, making them an eco-friendly choice.
The lipsticks have creamy velvet texture which is really comfortable to wear. It feels like a nice break from all the drying liquid lipsticks and use these for a change. The colors are opaque and you can definitely build up the color. The 2 shades here are:
- VICTORIAN- a medium rosy pink with neutral undertones.
- VOLTAGE is a classic red with neutral undertones.
You can see the products in action in my video below. I have created this metallic blue smokey eye with pink lips and I have used the products mentioned above.
WHERE TO BUY PURE ANADA & TIN FEATHER:
- Free of harmful ingredients.
- Free of common allergens.
- The demi matte eyeshadow formula is excellent- pigmented and rich.
- The organic smell from the moisturizer could be off-putting for some.
- The matte eyeshadow was a little patchy.
- The lipsticks will wear off pretty soon.
IN A NUTSHELL:
I am pleasantly surprised by the product quality these 2 brands offer. I am planning to explore Pure Anada & Tin Feather even more and feature more from these brands. Two thumbs up!
