Urban Decay X Game Of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette is a part of the UDxGOT collection. This palette has 20 eyeshadows of various colors and finishes, which is why this eyeshadow palette demanded a separate review.
Without further ado, let’s look into it.
Urban Decay X Game Of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette:
The cardboard palette looks like a book, and the cover reveals a mirror and a pop-up of the Iron Throne. It has famous quotes from the show on it. The palette design is definitely a worthy representation of the Game Of Thrones show.
If you look closer the 20 shadows are divided into 4 quadrants and the shadows are placed according to the “theme” of each quadrant.
The first one has more cool toned colors in various blue-black shades. Take the Black is a deep black with silver micro glitters. White Walker is a frosty pale icy blue (think of White Walker eyes). Frozen North is a metallic medium dark blue-teal. It has great pigmentation. Free Folk is a metallic silver. Hardhome is shimmery pale light pink.
The second quadrant colors remind me of the Fall season. Nymeria is a medium brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It has good pigmentation. Winter is Here is a deep brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It also has amazing pigmentation. Weirwood Leaves is an opaque medium-dark pearly plum with warm undertones. The Sight is a medium-dark, forest green with warm undertones and micro-sparkle with a frosted finish. Winterfell is a deep gold with warm undertones and a glittery finish. It reminds me of Huda Beauty shadows with chunky glitters. You will need a dampened brush or a makeup spray to maximize its potential.
The third quadrant has also warm toned shadows. The first shadow is Red Keep which is a pearly dark copper with warm undertones. Casterly Rock is a medium bronze with warm golden undertones. House Lannister is a matte pale peach with warm undertones. Lannister Red is a rich matte medium red-brown with warm undertones. King’s Landing is a yellowish white gold with a sparkly finish.
The last quadrant has all shimmery shades. These will perform the best if you dampen your brush with a setting spray or use Inglot Duraline. Stormborn is a medium purple with a sparkling finish. It has very fine pink, purple and peach shimmers in it. House Targaryen is a bronzy medium gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish. Dothraki is a medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and metallic finish. Bend the Knee is a light pink-lavender metallic shade with warm undertones and blue-to-violet shifting pearls. Bay of Dragons is a light pink with warm undertones and copper micro shimmers. It is very sheer, and you need to build it up.
In A Nutshell:
The palette has some hits and misses for sure. With only 3 matte shades, you will need other matte shadows from other palettes to finish some of your looks. But I love shimmery, glittery shadows and most of the shimmery shadows from this palette are opaque and rich. You can find similar shades from other Urban Decay eyeshadows. The packaging is definitely the high-point of this palette, and I don’t expect any less from Urban Decay packaging.
Is it bulky? Yes.
Is it travel-friendly? No.
Is it a true collector’s edition?- Definitely yes!
