Today’s guest post is written by Michelle Pino who works at a spa called, Skana, in a very small town in Upstate NY.
She has provided these tips in hopes to inspire others to treat themselves like royalty for a day, (or for fifteen minutes!)You’ll find Michelle spending most of her days at Skana Spa. She is learning about beauty and fashion, healthy living and loves the occasional indulgence in the sweet treats that she bakes!……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….Summer time fun calls for pulling out the picnic baskets, wearing your favorite sun dresses, and breaking out your light, bright skirts. You will want to lie out under the warm sky and let the rays of the sun soak into your skin. Unfortunately, when you expose this much skin and put in long hours under the sun, your skin may not be having as much fun as you think. The UV rays do subtle yet real damage to the cells that make up the most important organ of the body, your skin. Take this opportunity to develop a way for protecting your skin without doing equal damage by slathering it with harsh chemicals that are present in many of the skin care products on the market today. In the summer time, you are likely to be in for outdoor BBQs and extended afternoons at the park. Before you head out, ensure that you will have radiant, glowing skin to please the eyes of friends and family who will be there surrounding you. By using the healthy mixture below for skin protection, you will also ensure that your skin gets the treatment and nutrients it needs to maintain its radiance for the remainder of the year. This all-natural scrub and skin mask, inspired by the Skana Spa of New York Resort, Turning Stone, affectionately referred to as the Red, White, and Blue body scrub, can be done from home to give you lasting protection, rehydrate your skin, and help to reverse any damage that may have already been done.
what will you need:
In order to prepare the mixture, you will need just a few supplies:
- Colander,
- 10 strawberries,
- a handful of raspberries or blackberries, and
- a handful of blueberries.
These fruits are full of vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants that are critical for the health of the cells in your skin. As they nourish, they also hydrate, giving your skin a natural shine. You will also need:
- 1/4 cup of baby oil
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of sea salt.
You must first remove all the stems in the fruit and wash them thoroughly in the colander. Puree all the ingredients together in a mixer or food processor until you have a nice thick paste.
The mask is now ready for use. You can store the product in mason jars or to give the mixture to friends and family. This scrub makes a great gift that encourages the use of all-natural products for skin care. Nature is our greatest healer and protector when we take advantage of the bounty of ingredients that the seasons are able to provide for us.………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..Thank you so much for the article Michelle! I will definitely try it![Images are collected from Flickr]
