Hello readers!
When I received a box from Influenster with YSL written on top of it, I couldn’t help but smile with happiness! YSL is one of my favorite high-end brands and also among the top brands in Beauty industry. To test out their products after the initial launch is a great honour!
Anyway, I took my time to post this review so that my love for the brand doesn’t cloud my judgement for these products. The products I am going to review today are:
- YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer &
- YSL Touche Éclat Blur Perfector
Keep on reading to know more about these products!
YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PRIMER:
What does it claim:
“The first radiance boosting primer, formulated with 4 nourishing oils, skin is left incredibly soft without greasy residue. Immediately pores look diminished, skin feels smoother and skin tone is more even and luminous.”
Price & Availability:
For 1 oz, it retails for $52 and can be found online on Nordstrom, Sephora.
Packaging and Product:
The primer comes in the iconic golden YSL packet. With the gold specks in the clear liquid, this primer is beautiful to look at! You can scoop out the product with the small spatula provided with the bottle.

Closer look!
My Thoughts:
- As this primer is enriched with four nourishing oils—corn oil, apricot kernel oil, passiflora oil, and rice bran oil; I thought the product should feel a little greasy on my skin. But no! It gives a rich smoother feel on skin after application.
- Another thing that concerned me was the gold flecks. It looks so pretty, but what if I looked like a disco ball after using it? My thought was again dismissed after using this primer. The gold specks do not look chunky, rather “blend” on skin so well it gives a luminosity.
- It gave a smoother appearance after I applied my foundation.
YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PERFECTOR:
What does it claim:
“The first blur on-the-go. Instantly transforms from a balm to powder to sweep away shine and imperfections.”
Price & Availability:
It retails for $55 and can be found online on Nordstrom, Sephora.
Packaging and Product:
When you open the the golden YSL box, you will find a velvet pouch which contains the compact product. It also has a small velour sponge for product application.
After you open the light pink compact, you will find a balm-like product of the same color within. The product is definitely one of the most interesting one I have tested so far. It looks like a solid balm, feels like velvet when touched and glides on smoothly like a “powdered butter” when applied on skin. [Couldn’t find a better comparison than this! 🙂 ]
My Thoughts:
- As this product peaked my interest with packaging and unique qualities, I proceeded with caution while using the product. It claims to give a rosy-glow effect on skin, but I didn’t see any rosy-glow on my tanned South-Asian skin.
- It gives a smooth appearance after you apply it, both before and after foundation.
- It has mattifying quality, but skin doesn’t feel dry after application.
- Here is the product applied on the inner part of my wrist….so that you can see the changes it make after application.
HOW TO USE:
PRIMER: You will need a little amount to cover your T-zone or the whole face before foundation. I have tried mixing it up with my moisturizer and applied it on my bare face. Both works well!
PERFECTOR: You can use it in 3 ways.
1. Alone as an all-over complexion perfector.
2. To set makeup.
3. As a mattifying touch up during the day.
PROS:
- You will need a very little amount of product.
- Both products give smoother appearance, reduces the appearance of pores….skin looks like airbrushed.
- The Blur Perfector is good for on-the-go, when you need a little mid-day touch up.
CONS:
- These are high-end products, so a bit expensive.
- Some* (based on blogger reviews) claim that the primer doesn’t work as well on super oily skin as normal-combination skin, but I couldn’t verify that.
IN A NUTSHELL:
As expected from a high-end brand, YSL Touche Éclat Blur Perfectors deliver what they claim. Yes they are pricey, but a little amount of these products can transform your makeup from normal to air-brushed! Two thumbs up from me!
P.S.: “I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.”
