May Color Spotlight: GREY-SILVER

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

COLOR SPOTLIGHT is a new series on Sifa’s Corner. Every month I will show 10 or more products featuring one specific color or in the same color family. I have actually chosen 2 similar colors for May, these are GREY & SILVER.

Grey is a neutral or achromatic color, which is called a color “without color”. This is the color most commonly associated with conformity, boredom, uncertainty, old age, indifference, and modesty. So to break the boredom of Grey, I chose Silver to go with it.

I have picked 13 products in and closer to the Grey-Silver family. Some of these products may have different colors but with silver or grey undertones.

LORAC Pro palette 2:

Price: $42. You can buy it online here.

When Lorac came out with Pro-2 palette, I was skeptical if it can compete with the Pro-1. These did not complete, rather created a perfect Pro collection. This palette has got more cool toned shades. I have picked 6 shades from this palette.

Cool Gray: This is a matte grey color slightly leaning to brown.

Charcoal: As a name implies, it’s a matte charcoal grey color.

Black: I picked this black because without a primer, this is almost like a dark charcoal grey color.

Snow: Shimmery silver white

Chrome: Similar to Cool Gray, but it has shimmery silver finish.

Silver: A perfect shimmery silver.

This is a very interesting shade, and kinda hard to describe. It’s a frosted pressed pigment which is described as “Charcoal black”. If you look closely you can see it’s a warm black with silver and gold sparkles in it.

Beautiful colors!! I so need to learn the tricks for doing my makeup. I would probably look like a “Thriller” video person if I tried this color! :/

I do like your 13 picks this month! I would probably buy the ELF set. They are so affordable and I found them easy to blend.

Thank you Linda! ELF has other quads in different colors too, each of those are $2. But I must tell you, you need a primer to make the colors pop, otherwise the shades are not that vibrant.

I think you can wear just the right shade of grey or silver to bring out your eyes and outfit nicely. I love the look of cosmetics where the gray has a hint of blue.

Gray/silver are so popular currently in home decor — they’re lovely in makeup as well!

I like my home decor “warm” toned, so I may skip the grey for home decor… But for makeup- it’s all good!
