2014 Summer Product Loves

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

Hello beautiful!

Summer is coming to an end…..and many brands are launching their Fall collections. So maybe I am a little late to post this article. These are the products I have used most in this season and loved.

[For details, read more…]

It is a no brainer that sunscreen is a must have product- all year long….whether it’s raining or snowing. You can choose a normal sunscreen or a tinted one, your choice… But use one.

I am loving La Roche-Posay tinted and the normal version. And for body I am using Neutrogena. The neutrogena is a spray-on version and it’s great for on the go.

My most used sunscreen La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60. It’s an ultra light sunscreen fluid, which leaves no greasy cast and absorbs well.

There are so many primers you can buy now, you really have to explore the products by yourself to see which one works well for your skin. For summer time, Tarte BB Tinted 12 hour Primer is awesome! It is tinted and has spf in it, so win-win. Sometimes I just use it alone with some undereye concealer and setting powder.

BB cream-

Currently I am using Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream with SPF 35….but I am not 100% happy with it. Product wise, it’s really good. Good coverage, feels almost matte on skin my problem is, I couldn’t find a color for my skin undertone. So it’s not a complete match. I usually pair it with some bronzer and yellow toned setting powder [like Banana powder by Ben Nye] which gives a better result.

ELF has a great powder foundation….which is called Mineral Personal Blend Foundation SPF 15 You can customize the shade according to your skin color. When I want some coverage, or I know I will be out for a while, I use this powder foundation. It has worked well on Dhaka’s Summer too. So give it a try!

Nothing beats MAC Pro longwear concealer.. hands down! Just set it with a setting powder and you are good to go!

Setting, Finishing powder-

If you are using a concealer to hide the dark circles around your eyes, setting power is a must! I use Ben Nye Banana powder to set the concealer.

For finishing, I use Urban Decay De-Slick mattifying powder or Dim Light powder from Hourglass ambient lighting palette. I just dust it with a big fluffy brush on the T zone.

Setting Spray-

If you are wearing full face makeup, the last thing you will want is makeup
meltdown. To prevent this, set your makeup with a setting spray. I do not use one daily, but when I know I will be out for a long time and I want my face to look presentable, I use Urban Decay All nighter makeup setting spray.

I am usually tanned….so bronzer is optional for me. I use it lightly to add some definition on my face. Currently I am using Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer which looks almost non-existent on my NC 35-40 skin. But it gives a nice slight definition which I love for everyday use. MAC blush in Blunt is also a good option.

Clinique cheek pop in Ginger Pop and MAC blush in Gleeful are my 2 most used blushes this season.

For that subtle healthy glow, I like Hourglass Incandescent Light Ambient Lighting Powder.

MAC Blacktrack fluidline is a classic black gel liner. But if you are looking for colorful options, try Urban decay’s 24/7 liners. Great color options, greater color payoffs and stays on for a long time!

Benefit has launched a new gel liner “They’re Real Push Up Liner” which comes in a pen with a unique tip. This is a great product for Summer. Once it’s set, it won’t budge. Benefit  is my go-to liner these days.

Currently I am in love with Benefit They’re Real mascara. It defines my lashes so well that you can just wear this mascara and go out of door if you are in a hurry. Bonus, this one is waterproof. So no mascara meltdown on hot, humid days.

Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara is also good..if you want some drama on your lashes, you are gonna love it!

I don’t have affinity for any particular shadow, I use one depending on my attire and how much time I have to get ready.

2 great options are- Urban Decay Electric palette (left) if you are looking for playful color and MAC quad in Devilishly Dark (right) if you are looking for a more understated look.

Personally I prefer long lasting lipcolor formulas on Summer months. Here’s what I am digging this season-
From left to right-
Tarte lip tint in Elite
MUFE lip color in no. 10
Nars lip gloss in Eternal Red
Lime Crime Velvetine in Suedeberry
Urban Decay lip color in Liar and Bang
MAC lipsticks in Flat Out Fabulous and Impassioned
OCC lip tar in Grandma

I am “once a month” kinda person when it comes to putting on some nail color. I guess many Muslim ladies will understand my point.

So which colors I am loving this season? Orange, coral, purple, hot pink…. Heck, there’s no right or wrong in colors, if you like one- go for it girl, whatever the season is! My current favorite colors are these-

Here is a picture of me wearing some the products mentioned above.

So these are my Summer product hit list. Which one are you digging?
