COLOR SPOTLIGHT is a monthly series on Sifa’s Corner. Every month I show 10 or more products featuring one specific color or products in the same color family. The color I chose for AUGUST is BLUE!
BLUE is the color of depth and stability…It calms our mind and also shows loyalty & confidence. The particular shade of blue I am going to concentrate on today is from the darker side of the color spectrum.
I have chosen 16 shades of blue for August from my collection. You will also see similar colored products from different brands. So I think it will help you pick up something from the blue family for your next shopping trip.
It’s a cobalt blue with very fine blue shimmers. This glide-on eye pencil was released as part of the Ocho Loco 2 collection.
Availability: You can find the collection online here.
This is a deep navy with fine purple shimmer. This is a very buildable liner with great color payoff.

Sephora wink-it felt liners offer a variety of colors. I picked Midnight Navy and Baby Blues for today. Whether you are in mood for something playful or want to play up your brown eyes- these felt tip liners will do the trick.
Price: $14 || Availability: here
This liquid liner can be best described as a “peacock blue” with golden-green fine shimmers. If you want to spice up your liner or eyeshadow game, you should definitely try this out.
Price: $18.95 || Availability: here
This eye tint was released earlier this year. It looks like a lip gloss at a glance, but it’s a liquid to cream eyeshadow. You can apply it with the wand provided or your fingers. This particular color is a deep navy with subtle dark shimmers. It looks like a satin finish when swatched.
Price: $38 || Availability: here
This is a bright cobalt blue eyeshadow with light blue and silver shimmer.
Price: $13 || Availability: here
This is what happens when you have an accidental sneeze while taking pictures!
This is a deep rich navy with a black base.

With intense color payoff and great formulation, Colourpop shadows are something to try out if you haven’t yet.
Etiquette: This is described as “True royal blue in a Pearlized Finish”.
Rex: This is described as “Black drenched with multiple shades of blue glitter”. This is one of my favorite shadows from their collection. This eyeshadow works best if you use a primer first.
Price: $5.00 || Availability: here
This is described as “Purple with light blue sparkles”. I included this color because it’s a very pretty transition between purple and blue. Depending on the base, you can change the intensity of the blue-purple color balance.
Price: $20 || Availability: here
This is a rich blackened navy with a pearly finish. If you apply it with a damp brush, the color intensity increases.
Price: $29 || Availability: here
This is described a “midnight blue”. It’s a cool toned blue with silver shimmers. When you swatch it, it applies as pearl-finish shadow.
Price: $20 || Availability: here
This is a satin blue, which will perform better with a primer. This shadow performed relatively poor in comparison with the other shadows in this list.
Price: $12 || Availability: here
Inglot shadows have one of the best formulations in beauty industry. With or without primer, they give intense color payoff and rich vibrancy.
428: This is a pearl-finish (P) navy blue shadow.
426: This is a pearl-finish (P) medium blue.
480: This is a double-sparkle (DS) finish light blue with silver sparkles.

Left- without primer, Right- with primer
As I have talked about 11 blue eyeshadows so far, let’s see how they compare to each other in color and finish. These pictures are taken under different lightings. Click on these for better and enlarged view.
Released for Spring-2015, this is a really pricey palette. If you are familiar with the allure of higher-end brand products, you can have a look at this palette. Most of the colors are cool toned and they perform better with a good base underneath or applied wet.
Price: $95 || Availability: here
Described as a “metallic blackened purple with a blue pearl sheen”, this is a opaque blue-purple.
Price: $10 || Availability: here

Being an August baby, blue is one of my most favorite colors. As I read the post I kept thinking 'Oh wow, this is SO nice!' Over and over again. I think my most favorite ones would be the Giorgio Armani Minuit 2 and the Lush Motivation. The Lush Motivation is SUCH a pretty color, and the Armani is a perfect color for a sultry blue Smokey eye. I'm in love!!
I also loved those 2 products the most. You are giving me ideas to do a smokey eye with the Armani one, let's see!
Blue is one of my favorite colors to utilize for winter/holiday season. Thanks for sharing your pretty pallette and other makeup! It definitely gives some makeup inspiration.
You are most welcome Cristi...happy to inspire! :)
I love blue, one of my favorite eyeliners is blue and it really pops without being overwhelming!
Can't agree more Heidi! :)
I love wearing a darker blue liner and/or eye shadow on nights when I want a sultry eye. Love your collection and how you showed the difference applying a primer first can make.
I love a darker blue too Linda... brings out the brown part of my eyes. Thanks for appreciating my work. :)
Wow! There are a ton of options for blue!

That is a lot of different shades of blue. Some are very pretty.
I agree Tara!
