Five Things Friday #3

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

The month of June ended in a snap; at least, that’s what it felt like to me. I had the opportunity to spend time with my parents this month; I am feeling extremely blessed and sad at the same time. Being a grown-up means that no matter how much you want something, you have to return to your work and responsibilities.

Here are the 5 things that are worth mentioning:

1. Goose and Pebble Custom Illustrations:

I have found this unique hand-drawn illustration service online called Goose and Pebble. The founder, Melissa creates custom hand-drawn illustrations from photos that make beautiful home decor items and help preserve memories that last a lifetime. These make great gifts, home decor, and amazing mementos to make your favorite people smile!

I love how these pictures are done in a black-and-white illustration style. Please check out Melissa’s shop Goose & Pebble at https://gooseandpebble.com.

2. On Cloud Sneakers:

Did I just find the best shoes ever for walking and running? I believe I did! After my foot troubles last year, I could not wear any shoes I had in my collection or I came across. I have to be careful and vigilant about what I wear and how I position my foot, so after lots of research, returns, and trial and error, I have found my perfect sneaker for walking and running. I came across On Cloud sneakers on Shopbop last year. Though I was not initially convinced, one of my friends recommended that I try them. I did, and voila! I have been wearing my On Cloudmonster sneakers since January, every single day and I have not been disappointed. I am still wearing the foot inserts for my flat feet for the extra support. Overall, it is the best investment ever!

3. Travel with kids:

This summer, we have been traveling with kids quite a bit. So I had to adapt and learn to pack smartly without going overboard. Though this topic could be covered in a detailed article, I have to mention a few things I have been using constantly while we are traveling. Mouthwatchers travel toothbrushes with flossing bristles, a game changer for our traveling kit. I’m not too fond of it the way most travel toothbrushes feel on my teeth. Those are either too stiff, small, or big- never comfortable. But these Mouthwatchers travel toothbrushes are the perfect size, shape and softness for me, even when traveling. The bristles are super nifty and act as tiny flosses to remove all the food particles.

I pair it with their Toothpaste, which is naturally sourced Fluoride-Free whitening toothpaste. I like the 3 oz size; it is perfect for travel and works pretty well, too. Here is a comparison of their regular size and travel toothbrush.

4. Planting updates:

In my Five Things Friday article #2, I wrote about my planting adventures. I am happy to say my pepper plants are ready to be transferred to a bigger pot. I will write about how it goes in next month’s Five Things Friday.

5. Sunscreen dilemma!

I developed super sensitive skin after my second child two years ago. I can not use all the skin products as I used to before. Most sunscreens are not working, and when my skin comes in contact with the sun, I get painful, sensitive rashes. So, I have been slathering myself with sunscreen whenever I go out. BUT the white cast!! Oh my! I HATE the way physical sunscreen makes my face look like a ghost. Chemical sunscreen is not working on my skin, so yeah. The journey for a suitable sunscreen continues!
