What I learned about healthy eating + 8 Superfoods for healthy skin & hair

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

Recently I posted about health, weight loss, and my journey with it on my Instagram and Facebook. Many people opened up and shared their experiences. They talked about how important it is to choose healthy foods whether you have the appetite for it or not; they shared their struggles of weight loss journey and how people can be insensitive and simply blurt out, “you are fat”. This opened up the conversation about healthy eating and how important it is to learn about our bodies. So in this article, I will discuss about MetPro, what I learned from it, and how you can start a healthy lifestyle by adding 8 superfoods for healthy skin hair.

MetPro and Healthy Eating:

Do you know eating smartly can actually promote positive changes in your body? There are plenty of foods out there that give you the nutrition you need to keep your hair and skin healthy and glowing while help maintaining your weight. I learned about managing the small things on my diet to achieve the bigger result, and for this, I am thankful to MetPro. I consulted with their Concierge Coaching service & learned about my body- how to manage my daily nutrition and balance the diet without making myself too full or too hungry. Together with my coach, I realized how to create and maintain a healthy food and movement routine according to my body and bodily limitations.

Most people don’t understand that our metabolism plays a big role in reaching health & fitness goals, and it will adapt to whatever we eat. With MetPro, your assigned meal plan and workouts will adjust as you progress. This journey is not linear; just like your metabolism, your plan will evolve. The best way to learn how MetPro can work for you is to head to the link (MetPro.co/sifascorner), take their assessment, and schedule a consultation with their team.

So as I am learning more about healthy eating, I incorporate more “superfoods” in my diet. Here are 8 Superfoods for healthy skin hair that you should combine into your diet to get the best results:

Superfoods for Healthy Skin And Hair:

Superfood 1- Kiwi

This tasty fruit is amazing for both your hair and skin, so it’s something you should try in your diet. You’re already packing in lots of fruits and veggies, so why not try something tasty and easily available? It’s full of vitamin C and lots of antioxidants, which help you create firmer, healthier skin. There’s also vitamin K, E and folate, and potassium, which are all great at helping you create healthier hair too. You’ll also find zinc in it, which lubricates the scalp. This helps nourish new hair follicles and create thicker hair.

Superfood 2- Avocado

Avocado is certainly having its moment in the spotlight, being a trendy superfood. Its reputation is well deserved, as there are so many benefits from these fruits. It’s full of monounsaturated fatty acids, which are vital for moisture in both the skin and scalp. There are many antioxidants, potassium, magnesium, and folate, too, all of which combat inflammation in the skin. It’s worth adding them into your diet if you haven’t already, as they help the body absorb nutrients from other foods, too.

Superfood 3- Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkins aren’t just for Halloween. Each part of the pumpkin is excellent for your health, and pumpkin seeds are highly nutritious in particular. They’re full of protein, iron, magnesium, potassium, biotin, and omega 3 fatty acids. Because of this, they’re amazing for your skin and hair, as well as your nails. You’ll even see an improvement in your mood and energy when you eat them every day.

Superfood 4- Oats

You don’t have to spend a lot to be able to enjoy superfoods. Oats are inexpensive but pack a real nutritional punch. They have anti-inflammatory properties, making them perfect for your skin. They also contain protein, biotin, magnesium, and potassium. This will help them clear your skin and reduce stress, making your skin glow. Many like to make overnight oats so they can get easy and tasty oats for breakfast every morning.

Superfood 5- Sweet Potato

Sweet potato is an incredibly nutritious vegetable, so it’s one that you want to include in your diet as soon as possible. It’s perfect for your skin and hair because it’s full of vitamin A. You need vitamin A to make your hair and skin lustrous. Without vitamin A, your hair and skin can start to look dull and lifeless. Sweet potato will help you keep your hair soft and your skin supple, thanks to that vitamin. If you suffer from dark circles under your eyes, they’ll also help lessen them, making you look less tired.

Superfood 6- Seaweed

Your body needs all the help it can get when it comes to its regenerative properties. That’s where seaweed comes in. It’s packed full of antioxidants, selenium, iron, omega 3, and copper. These are all nutrients you need for healthy skin and hair. Seaweed is also an amazing source of iodine. This helps your scalp regulate moisture levels and trigger cellular functions in the skin. This will help counter any cell damage and protect your skin and scalp.

Superfood 7- Salmon

Salmon is the perfect fish to eat if you’re looking for healthier hair. It contains vitamin D, protein, and omega 3 fats. These all promote hair growth, keeping your hair full and healthy. You can also eat tuna or mackerel to get the same effect. Try out different recipes to enjoy the fish.

Editor’s note: I absolutely love the monthly home-delivery service of Alaskan salmon share from SITKA SALMON. They deliver fresh salmon and other seafood from different fisheries and river systems. If you do not know how to cook it, they will provide recipe cards, or you can search for easy recipes online. 2 of my favorite ways to cook are: bake them with salt, pepper, lemon, olive oil, and rosemary and going on fully South-Asian with onion-ginger-garlic and tomato paste in fish curry.
I have tried their service twice and highly recommend you check it out.

Superfood 8- Berries

Berries are perfect in your oats, or in desserts (Berry Parfait, anyone?). They’re even great just as a snack. They’re not just versatile though, they’re full of nutrition for your hair and skin too- full of vitamin C, which is essential in preventing hair breakage. It will boost collagen production, making your skin healthier than ever. Every day you’re exposed to UV light and toxins from the environment, which damage your skin. Berries have everything you need to counter that damage, too. So snack smartly, add them to your daily diet.

These are just a few of the foods you can start eating to promote healthy skin and hair growth. The best thing is they’re all tasty, and there are many easy recipes on the internet to experiment with, so grab some on your next trip to the supermarket. You’ll soon see the difference in your body.
