ZOTOS All About Curls Collection- Cleansers & Conditioners Review on 2C Curly Hair

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

Special thanks to Zotos for providing me the products. All opinion is my own.

Hello, my dear reader! Let’s take our minds off of all the COVID-19 related posts and focus on something related to beauty and grooming: Curly-hair-care. As you can guess from the caption, today I am going to talk about Zotos All About Curls collection. This collection has been raved about in the curly hair community for a while, so I felt like I have to try these products for my curly-haired audience.

ZOTOS Curl Collection Review

My Curl Pattern, Texture and general routine:

My curls are mostly 2C with some 3A pieces around the face and the top part. They are high porosity and have highlights. I have been adding highlights to “blend” the greys so that I can stop coloring my hair at one point. My hair is thick with a normal scalp (occasionally flaky and itchy scalp, but that’s generally due to product buildup and better reserved for another post).
I have ditched the straightener and on the curly hair journey for almost 2 years. I am not a 100% CGM (Curly Girl Method) follower, but I avoid Silicones and Sulphates, as much as possible.
I wash my hair thoroughly with shampoo, conditioner/deep conditioner once every 10-14 days. After that, I style the hair with stylers. In between the wash, I refresh with water or co-wash and style- depending on my hair/scalp condition.

In my opinion, everyone’s curls are different- even if you are a 2C like me. So do keep it in mind- the product combination that works magically on my curls can work like s*** on your curls.
Now that all the future disappointment is clear, let’s get started with the review.

ZOTOS All About Curls Collection:

I have been using the Zotos All About Curls Collection products on every wash day from this February. So you can say I have been experimenting with these products for quite some time before sitting here and presenting you with the complete review. There has been a widespread notion about bloggers that we upload the review after a single-use. I can not vouch for all the bloggers out there, but here at Sifa’s Corner, a product has been used at least a month before the review is uploaded.

The All About Curls collection has 2 cleansers, 2 conditioners and 4 stylers including 2 gels, 1 cream, and 1 boosting foam. The stylers have been reviewed in this article.

All About Curls- Cleansers:

Curly hair can not take the harsher shampoos as they strip the oil too much and make the hair frizzy. This is why curls need cleansers that are gentler and very moisturizing. Zotos All About Curls collection has 2 cleansers: No-Later and Lo-Lather.

No-Lather Cleanser:

The No-Lather Cleanser is the foamless creamy conditioner-esque formula that gently cleanses and provides hydration for strong, soft, de-frizzed curls without suds. This is a great cleanser to use in between the wash day when you need something gentle yet effective to clean your scalp and to provide moisture to your hair. This creamy white cleanser will not create suds, I repeat, will NOT create any suds. So if you are used to suds or looking for suds from this product by adding more and more on your hair, you should stop. Take the amount according to your hair length and massage on your scalp and hair as usual. Your hair will be clean.

Price:
$9.99 – $10.99

Where to Buy:
Sally Beauty, Amazon.

My Thoughts:
In my opinion, this No-Lather cleanser is one of the bests I have used so far. It detangles and cleanses hair when your curls get tangled and dry. Some days I have also applied it on my daughter’s hair, and her thin soft waves looked & smelled wonderful afterward.

Lo-Lather Cleanser:

Price:
$9.99 – $10.99

Where to Buy:
Sally Beauty, Amazon.

My Thoughts:
The Lo-Lather cleanser is a great gentle cleanser for any kind of hair. It’s not as harsh as a clarifying shampoo or as thick & moisturizing as a co-wash product (or the no-lather cleanser mentioned previously). But it’s a perfect cleanser to start your wash day with. It cleans up all the build-up without stripping hair and provides a clean base to start your styling process.

All About Curls- Conditioners:

Divine Treatment:

This the Deep Conditioning treatment from All About Curls collection. I have found that you can either use it on wet hair or slightly damp hair. Sometimes I apply this deep conditioning treatment generously on my dry hair and keep it on for 30-45 minutes with my shower cap on. The formula is creamy and it provides a slip when applied. I always saturate my hair with a deep conditioner until I get the “seaweed” slip and let it sit for at least 10 minutes.

Cost:
$11.99 – $13.19

Where to Buy:
Sally Beauty, Amazon.

My Thoughts:
The curls feel softer and manageable after using this conditioner. I would love it even more if they come out with a bigger tub.

Daily Cream Conditioner:

This is your everyday rinse-out conditioner. It’s creamy, detangles the hair and you can even use a little amount as a leave-in (if your hair is very dry and/or very curly). I use it as a regular conditioner and it works pretty well. I can also use a tiny bit as a leave-in when I want to go styling product-free.

Cost
$9.99 – $10.99

Where to Buy:
Sally Beauty, Amazon.

My Thoughts:
It’s a great conditioner for everyday use for the curlies, and if you have straight hair, you can use it like a weekly deep conditioning treatment. I have once used it on my husband’s fine straight hair. It looked smoother and shinier afterward.

In A Nutshell:

  • Not Protein-Free. These contain hydrolyzed soy protein. So I would suggest switching up to a moisture-rich product once in a while to counteract protein-overload.
  • Curly Girl (CGM) Friendly.
  • Each and every product smells wonderful, fresh and floral-y.
  • They perform great, considering price and value.

I have made another article dedicated only to the stylers. Coming up in my next post. Read it here.
