6 Ways to Wear Midi Skirts in Cold Winter Weather without Sacrificing the Warmth

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

I have discovered an appreciation for midi-skirts lately. Because these are really cute, stylish and can be worn easily if I want to wear something other than jeans in cold weather. Winter means heavy snow here in Fargo, ND, so it’s not feasible to wear maxi skirts. (I, for one, will trip on that for sure). I have brainstormed some ideas on how to wear midi skirts if you also live in a cold city. It doesn’t have to be hard if you follow some basic steps. So enjoy today’s tips and shop from my favorite midi skirts below.

How to Wear Midi Skirts in Cold Weather

6 Ways to Wear Midi Skirts in Cold Weather:

IDEA 1: Layer Up: This is the most seen style during cold weather and it surely makes sense. Wear your midi skirt with knee-high boots and warm leggings. Your leg will be warm but the leggings won’t show due to the knee-high boots. Try fun printed skirts like the left one or a pleated skirt like the right one with neutral-colored tops or sweater.

IDEA 2: Animal Prints: Animal prints look better in colder weather. If you are fearing that it will look over-the-top, try pairing the animal print with a neutral color. Like a black sweater or jumper with an animal print skirt (left) or a plain t-shirt with an animal print midi skirt (right). You can finish it off with a warm Jacket.

IDEA 3: Booties: If the weather permits (and there is no chance of frostbite), try your midi skirt with booties. Wear a pair of warm no-show warm socks to keep your toes warm. Pairing your midi skirt with booties will give you an elevated look and it looks amazing in Fall and Winter- both season.

IDEA 4: Combat Boots with Tights: Bring out your fun side with combat boots and tights. You can wear the tights like the left picture-with little gap, or the right picture- tucked in the boots. I think the pairing of a tulle midi skirt with a leather jacket (right picture) is cute and tough at the same time. Try it today!

IDEA 5: High Heels: High heeled shoes look amazing with midi skirts. You can go with chunky heels like the right picture or more delicate heels like the left picture. Whichever you choose, I will ask to be cautious if you are going to walk outside with heels in snowy winter. So keep the high heels for those events which will require you to stay indoors most of the time.

IDEA 6: Midi Dress + Shirt/T-shirt: Last but not the least, this tip is something I have seen many fashion bloggers wearing and looks ah-mazing! This trick actually requires no midi skirt at all. If you have a maxi or midi dress you can wear it with a shirt or a t-shirt on top and voila!
