REVIEW: Maybelline Color Tattoos

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

Hello my lovely readers!
Hope you all are doing well!
Today I am going to review some of the “Maybelline eye studio color tattoo- 24 hour cream gel shadow” (okay, that was a mouthful!)

What the company claims:

Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation.
Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant.
Ophthalmologist-tested.  Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

How to use:

  • Illuminate. With fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards.  For added drama, darken as desired.

Without further ado, let us see for ourselves what the products are really like.
——————————————————————————————–

Painted purple:

This is a purple shadow with cool bluish undertone. The shadow is slightly shimmery.
It can be used as a base or just a wash of color by itself.
I give it 3.5 out of 5.

Bold gold:

This is a true gold shadow. I love the fact that it’s not too much yellowish.
Great for base and also as a shadow.
Color pay off is vibrant.
I give it 4 out of 5.

Too cool:

This is a shimmery  white shadow.
Not too great for base, but it can be worn as a shadow.
I give it 3 out of 5.

Edgy emerald:

This is such a lovely color between mint and emerald with fine gold shimmer!
Great for base and as a shadow.
I give it 4.5 out of 5.

Electric blue:

This is a cool toned dark metallic blue.
Great for base and a shadow.
Awesome color payoff!
I give it 5 out of 5.

Audacious asphalt:

This is a cool toned shimmery silver-gray color.
Great color payoff.
Great for base and as a shadow.
I give it 4.5 out of 4.

Fierce & tangy:

It’s a true orange color with small amount of gold shimmer.
Great for base and as a shadow.
Bonus tip: Use a little amount, mix it with your regular concealer and you got your color corrector for blue-grey under eye circle. (Inspired by Jessica Harlow).
I give it 4.5 out of 5.

Tough as taupe:

This is a great taupe color without any shimmer.
This is a great base color for a smokey eye.
It can also be used alone as a shadow.
I give it 5 out of 5.

Pomegranate punk:

This is a shimmery burgundy color with cool undertone.
Great for base as well as a shadow.
Great color payoff.
I give it 5 out of 5.

Overall thought:

* The color tattoos give great color pay off without any primer.

* Sets quickly with matte finish and staying power is good.

* Most of the colors are great as an eyeshadow base.

* Can be used with just fingers… so these are great for quick eye makeup!

* Does not crease.

* The color can be built up with gradual layering of the shadows.

…………..So in a  nutshell, the color tattoos are true to their claim.
