An experiment with Honey!

DISCLAIMER: If you are allergic to this specific product, this is not a helpful article for you!
For the last 6 months, I am doing an experiment to my skin and my diet. As the experiment phase is over and it was quite successful, today I am going to share with all of you about it.
It’s nothing fancy, won’t break your wallet and easily found in the kitchen.
HONEY- Its sweetness is impeccable, it’s anti-inflammatory, it’s organic and it’s one of the best creations of nature.
Honey is a wonderful product for our overall health. Being in chronic pain and discomfort, I always feel lethargic, weak and my immune system is always “sensitive.”
You may ask, Sensitive how?
Well, if it’s winter, I am the one always catching the cold; if it’s summer I am still the one sneezing and coughing. It’s quite annoying actually.
Truth to be told, I have never ever liked the taste of honey…(but never say never, right?)
When I started doing this experiment, I was like “YUK”…..then after 1 month, I was like “Okay”
After 2 months it became a “MUST DO ACTIVITY”. And now frankly speaking, I am hooked!
So what do I do with honey?
  • I eat 1-2 tea-spoons of honey before going to bed at night.
  • I drink warm water with honey & lemon in the morning with empty stomach.
  • I slather honey on my face every other day.

Okay, I can see lots of rising questions about the above applications. Let me tell you why I do these things every day.

Hibernation Diet:

Honey has Fructose in it and it helps to burn fat and increase our stamina. I don’t wanna go in details with the fructose-glucose stuff or metabolism process, but to put it out simply, eating honey before going to bed increases the fat burning properties of our bodies.
This practice is seen among the athletes, and it is called the “Hibernation diet”. The principle of the diet is-
“Two spoonful of honey before bed will help burn off fat while you sleep.”
This diet was developed by an Edinburgh pharmacist and sports nutritionist, is said to be endorsed by Olympic gold-winning cyclist Chris Hoy and used by champion boxer Alex Arthur.

[** This diet includes taking honey along with different types of resistance exercises. So if you think only taking honey will reduce your weight dramatically, it’s not gonna happen.]

I can not show you practical evidence that this diet has reduced my weight and what not; but I feel more energetic, my body has become stronger, and believe it or not- honey helps me to sleep well. It takes a little time to start the effects of this diet, but it works.

Honey-lemon cocktail:

Take a cup of warm (not hot) water, add a tea spoon of honey and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Drink it in empty stomach every morning.

Benefit:

The combination of lemon and honey acts as a miracle on our body. Because,
1. It cleanses the body by getting rid of the toxins that accumulate throughout the day.

2. It improves digestion.

3. It gets rid of constipation.

4. It removes bad breath.

I have experienced all these benefits after taking honey-lemon juice. You can see these benefits within the 1st week!

Honey as face mask:

If you are a regular follower of my blog, you will notice that I prefer organic products for skin care rather than chemical ones.
Why? Because these give better results, do not cause allergic reaction often and they are wallet-friendly.
Last year my skin became a mess after my surgery. Horrible, painful acne was popping every now and then and I didn’t know what to do! After I stared using organic products for skin care, its quality has been improved but the skin texture somewhat felt rough and bumpy.
So before shower every other day, I clean my face with a face wash and then apply honey as a mask on the wet face. Just plain simple honey, nothing more. I wait for 5-10 minutes and then I wash the honey off with warm water. After that I splash some cold water on my face , apply moisturizer and I am done.

This little trick has made my skin “normal”….acne episodes seldom occurs and skin texture is getting better. Check out the pictures at the end of the article for the result.

Other benefits of honey:

1. Honey is naturally anti-bacterial.

2. It can act as a spot acne treatment.

3. It can be used for eye de-puffing.

4. It can be used in exfoliating scrubs.

5. It is very moisturizing for skin.

6. It improves sleep.

picture time!

Here are some graphic pictures of the acne episode from last 12-14 months. Using all organic products for skin care has made my skin normal and healthier. If you want to know what else I do for my skin, check out other articles related to skin here.
The above pictures are unedited and taken with my cell phone for the past 14 months to show the exact result of my skincare routine!
