Old Hollywood Glam Makeup

by Wasifa Ahmad Hasan

Hello my lovely readers!
Last year when I posted the article about “How to do a perfect red lip”, many readers have asked me about the eye-makeup. Today I am doing step by step tutorial for the eye look.

Scroll down and click on the pictures for larger view!

WHAT I HAVE USED

Following are the products I have used.

Eye:

Urban Decay primer Potion in Eden
Urban Decay Naked palette 1
NYX jumbo pencil in Milk
Givenchy phenomen’eyes mascara
Maybelline Black gel eye-liner

Face:

L’Oreal infallible foundation
Revlon age defying concealer
MAC studio finish concealer [NC35]

Cheek:

MAC bronzing powder in Bronze
L’Oreal touch on Highlight

Lip:

MAC lipstick in Russian Red
(MUFE aqua rouge #8 red is finished so I had to replace the red lip with Russian red.)

STEPS

I have done the eye makeup before I did the face. In this way you can easily remove any fallout or correct any harsh lines.

1.

Prime your upper & lower lid with a matte primer. I have used Eden, a matte yellowish primer which also helps to neutralize any redness on the eyelids. Primer is important if you want your eyemakeup to last and colors to be vibrant.

2.

Take a brown matte color, which is similar to your skin color [If you do not have this color, just use your powder foundation lightly]. Pat this color onto your whole upper lid. I have used Naked.

3.

Take a shimmery pinkish-brown color and apply it onto the upper lid leaving the crease are bare. I have used Sidecar.

4.

Take a shimmery dark brown color with pink undertone (Hustle) and apply it in the outer V of your upper eye lid just like the picture. Blend well.
[See the fallout under my eyes? That’s why if you are doing any heavy eye makeup, it’s better to keep the face makeup for last!]

5.

Take a matte brown shadow, 2 shades darker than your skin and blend with the Hustle. I have used Buck.

6.

For more depth of the outer area, I have defined it with Creep. You can use a black eyeshadow and apply it like a V on the outer corner, just above the Hustle.

7.

Blend the colors well….so that there won’t be any harsh line.

8.

Take a light shimmery cream/white shadow to brighten your inner eye area. I have used Virgin and applied it on the inner eye area along with inner 1/3 rd of the lower eye.

9.

Take a white [or Cream] colored eyeliner and apply it on the lower lid. I used jumbo pencil in Milk.

10.

Apply your gel liner with a flick on the outer corner a.k.a. the Cat eye liner. Curl your lashes and apply mascara on the upper lashes.

11.

Apply the light shimmery shadow (Virgin) under the high arch of your brows.

12.

Fill in your brows with a matte dark brown eyeshadow and set the brow with a clear brow gel.

13.

Add some mascara on the lower lashes too.

14.

You can use false lashes to make the eyes more dramatic. I have used a pair of thick false lashes and thickened the liner with a liquid eye liner for a bolder look.

15.

Wipe any fallout of the eyeshadows, do your face makeup and you are ready to go!

Hope it was helpful! Try it out and let me know how it goes. I will love it if you share your picture with me.
